The music-based comedian is one of Ireland's finest acts at the moment, bringing a freshness to stand-up comedy with only his battery-powered keyboard. Black Box Belfast Edinburgh hip-hop three piece Young Fathers play the Black Box on January 16 as part of the CQAF's Out To Lunch Festival, which runs throughout the month. The 2014 Mercury Prize winners - for their debut album, Dead - formed in 2008, ini ally styled themselves as a psychedelic hip hop boy band, and are made up of Alloysious Massaquoi, Kayus Bankole and 'G' Hastings, all of whom grew up mostly in Edinburgh. The multi-instrumentalist plays guitar, piano and cello as well as being a classically trained singer. The Academy 2 Dublin US indie folk rock songwriter Nathaniel Rateliff plays the Academy 2 on January 23, accompanied by his band. He performed at McHugh's almost exactly a year since this upcoming show, in support of second album, Falling Faster Than You Can Run. Rateliff has toured with some of the biggest folk/singer-songwriters in the world today including the likes of Bon Iver, Wilso, Tallest Man On Earth and Mumford & Sons. Doors open at 7.30pm. Black Box Belfast, the Belfast Reggae collective runs a feast of entertainment at the Black Box as part of on January 23. The night will kick off with the Irish film premiere of 'I Am The Gorgon: Bunny Striker Lee and the Roots of Reggae', the 2013 film which traces the rise of Jamaican music from its humble beginnings to a global phenomenon, told through reggae champion and pioneer, legendary producer Bunny 'Striker' Lee.
Following the screening, Jamaican veteran DJ Ranking Joe will perform, accompanied by the Explosion Soundsystem rig.
